We chose cassava because it is an abundant crop grown throughout Africa. As a crop familiar to farmers, they have knowledge on its cultivation. The cassava crop also provides a regular source of income for rural communities.

What is the composition of Cassava plastic?


Cassava plastic is made from a combination of Cassava and vegetable oils. Cassava is a widely-grown tropical root vegetable, a bit like a potato. The formulation of cassava plastic is from a is a biobased polymer compound, manufactured from renewable natural resources, such as industrial starch, vegetable oil derivatives and other natural abundant materials such as cassava.




What does Cassava'plastic' feel like?


Cassava'Plastic' feels and looks like normal plastic.




Is there anything Cassava bags cannot be used for?


Although Vegan 'Plastic' has a wide variety of uses, it is not water friendly, because water above 60C will break it down.




What happens at ‘end of life’ for Cassava plastic?


Because the 'plastic' is made from plants it can be composted at home or placed in your recycling bin. It can also be dissolved in water.




Can Cassava plastic be customised?


Yes. We can customise, size, thickness, colour and design. We can also print your logo.




Is there a minimum order quantity?


Yes. Our MOQ is 5,000 units of any type of usage case scenario.




How ethical is Cassava plastic?


The cassava is grown by farming co-operatives in Indonesia and Africa. Cassava is an easily grown cash-crop. This provides farmers with an extra source of income. But isn’t cassava a food crop? Yes, it is. But none of the cassava grown for our bags comes from food production. What about water use and fertilisers? Cassava grows like a weed in tropical countries. No extra irrigation is needed to grow it. Fertilisers are not used. In fact, most of our cassava is grown on land that was previously used for tobacco production.




How strong is Cassava plastic?
